The County Challengeby $banks

*Chloe-B and I love to set ourselves long-term challenges.

One of our big ones is to visit every hill and tor on Dartmoor. We're getting there!

While discussing holidays we also decided we should visit every county in the UK. Now in the last 40 years or so many counties have split and/or become "Unitary Authorities" many of which seem a lot less romantic than the Traditional counties. So we decided to stick to the "Traditional County" list as defined by the Association of British Counties ([link]).

We have a big map of Dartmoor on our wall so to make the county challenge more visual and fun we spent some time over christmas actually making something a little bit creative!

This is the result. It is the traditional counties outlined in grey, then any we visit we colour in and label along with the date and town we stayed when we first visited. We are defining "visit" as "slept there for at least one night".

Yeah Malvern is lovely, though I did get stuck there in the floods a few years ago hehe.

We went to Northumberland (Walkworth) not long ago and would highly recommend it, we even had nice weather! Great walking along hadrian's wall and there are loads of places to visit.

Also if you are ever in Warwickshire again come visit us

We've not stayed in Worcestershire yet (although did walk there when we stayed in Warwickshire) so we'll have to do that soon. Will call in when we do!
